The Fighting Irish received a big boost to their running back depth for the 2021 season as four-star recruit Audric Estime signed a letter of intent to join the school next year. Estime had previously agreed to join Michigan State in September before he was offered a spot at Notre Dame on December 14. He joins a running back group for 2021 that will also include Kyren Williams, C'bo Flemister, and Chris Tyree. Notre Dame is expected to add one more running back.
While Williams is expected to the be lead back for the Fighting Irish next season, Estime could be useful in goal line and short-yardage situations given his 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame. Ranked as the 244th best college recruit for 2021 in the 247 Composite rankings, Estime recorded more than 1,800 rushing yards in his shortened 2020 fall campaign. More impressive, he did so against quality programs such as Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco, both of which have produced NCAA Division I and NFL players.
